He did his post-graduation (2004) and Ph.D. (2009) in Botany from Kumaun University Nainital. Prior joining to USAC in 2014, he worked as a research scholar and SERB Young Scientist Fellow at Wildlife Institute of India and GBPNIHESD, Kosi-Alomra for more than 10 years on various aspects of biodiversity monitoring and management. His research interests include Plant Taxonomy, Forest Ecology, Spatial Phyto-resource Monitoring and Natural Resource Management. He has travelled all across the alpine regions of Western Himalaya covering ~3000km on foot. Till date, he has contributed in over 40 research papers, 02 books and 01 Manual. His significant contribution is in discovering one (01) new species of flowering plants to the science, addition of five (05) species to the flora of Western Himalaya, three (03) species to Uttarakhand state and one (01) species to Himachal Pradesh. Rediscovery of one (01) species from Uttarakhand and three (03) local check list of floras, one (01) manual for Planning Management of Ecosystem Services and two (02) books (field guide to the Plants of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, Western Himalaya and An Atlas of Kailash Sacred Landscape-India).
